Rent the Runway

For this weekend, we had a wedding to go to. Josh was the best man so we came up early to attend the rehearsal. That meant me finding not one, but 2 dresses for the weekend. A few weeks back I started stressing about what to wear. I really don't have time after work to go browsing through the mall, and the weekends are always packed with events. Wear dresses from past weddings? Sure. Except most don't fit me anymore since my body has changed so much from working out. Then, I remembered about Rent The Runway! You can rent awesome designer dresses for a small fee. They send it straight to wherever you are and you ship it back a day or two later in a prepaid envelope. You don't even have to get it dry cleaned! DONE. I was a little worried about having faith in 2 dresses I've never seen in person or tried on. But, the website has user reviews and pics that help you figure out the fit. Genius. My dresses arrived the day before we left and fit beautifully! It was super easy and virtually worry free! I'd rather rent any day than try to find a dress that I'll only wear a few times and spend $200+. They even had a special so I rented both dresses for $85. Worth every penny!

Camo!

I've always loved camo print...hello camo nails! Not sure why I haven't thought of this before, but I'm glad I experimented with it. Love this look!

Friday!

Happy Friday! It's been a super long week but it's alllllllmost over! I was feeling a bit funky this morning and decided to go a little bit more bold with the statement pieces and wear my turquoise bubble necklace with my new leopard heels. I really like the way this goes together. It's a fun look for Friday. And, the leopard gets me excited for fall!

Purple Polka!

I've been so busy recently, I haven't done much in the way of nail designs. This was fast and easy.

This lilac shade is from Essie's Yoga collection. I am a big fan of 2 of the shades, yogaga and this one below, pilates hottie.

Not again!

I'm just not sure I'm meant to have a nice double walled tumbler. This one is my second one, not even a week old. It met my sidewalk earlier and shattered the whole rim. Same exact thing that happened to my one before this. I live that these tumblers stay super cold through the day. It's a convenient cup for water especially on the go.

Do they make one that's "Jen Proof"?

Obsessed?!

I need to stop buying polish! I had to buy this special rack to keep it all in plain view. The large Tupperware bin just was impossible and hard to see what I actually had. This is a nice way to display my collection and at quick glance I know exactly what I have at all times! Definitely worth the $35!

We had the most amazing weather today. It totally got me in the mood for fall! Even the skies were gorgeous. Snapped this pic on the Key bridge making my way home this afternoon...

Tough Mudder 2012

Done and DONE!

This race was easier than I expected it to be. I was super proud of myself for finishing and even more impressed that I kicked ass and was no worse for the wear afterwards. I was even the first one to finish out of our team! Proof that girls rock ;) Our team was amazing. Even though we finished a little staggered, everyone completed the race in once piece! Yay us!

The weather was a little hairy for the last half of the race. The temperature dropped, winds picked up and the rain POURED. Unfortunately, the ground was mostly clay, so we were running in mud pudding the last 5 miles of the course. They were even forced to close some of the best obstacles because of the thunder and lightening. Apparently, we were racing in the middle of a tornado warning. How's that for life-like conditions?! The rain caused flooding on the course and everything was even more slick than planned. By the end of the race, every single person was covered in mud. It was everywhere, I couldn't believe how messy it got. That was seriously half the fun!

I'm so glad we were given a Saturday slot. Apparently conditions were so horrible and they made the call to cancel all of Sunday. Traffic was brutal, they didn't have adequate police coverage for the area. It took us 2 hours to go 5 miles and ended up going later than our allotted time slot. The course flooded, not to mention it was a nightmare for people to get out of the parking fields. Many got trapped in the mud pudding and had to get towed out.

All in all, a great experience and I would definitely sign up for another one!

Hopefully soon they'll come out with some of the race photos, I only have the squeaky clean "before" pics!

Today was one of those days where I needed some extra motivation to get me to the gym. This helped! The fact that Tough Mudder is on the horizon helped too! Haha

Prep Time!

I cant stress enough how important preparing food ahead of time is to your "diet". It allows you to have quick snacks/meals that can be taken on the go. It's way too easy and tempting to reach for a cookie or a granola bar instead of making something healthy. Prepping food allows you that ease without sacrificing all the hard work you put in to the gym. It has changed my life and the way I eat!

Tonight on my agenda:

A new recipe I'm trying out, meatloaf muffins for the in between meal, meal.

And one of my new faves, banana bread protein bars. They taste exactly like the banana bread my mom makes without all the extras you don't need and packed with protein and good for you fillers! Real fruit too!

I am allergic to cleaning...no joke.

Since the weather decided not to cooperate on the LAST POOL WEEKEND OF THE SEASON...I took it upon myself to use the free time to clean and organize my whole room.  I put together a bag of clothes to take to the consignment shop that will hopefully make me some money for a few fall wardrobe items. Bills and important documents are now super organized. Most importantly, I cleaned the crap out of my bedroom...literally. I've been putting this "spring cleaning" off for way too long and the dust that built up in the nooks and crannies of the far reaches of my closet and underneath my desk didn't stand a chance.  Unfortunately, neither did my allergies.  I have been sniffling, sneezing, stuffed up and just plain miserable for the past 2 days.  Which brought me to my ultimate conclusion...I am very allergic to cleaning.  All in all, I'm happy to have gotten it out of the way and I feel much better knowing my life is back in a more organized state.  Phew!

Animated Gifs

Clearly, I've found a new trick...animated clips! Maybe I'm just simple, but they're amazing and I'm kind of obsessed. Many of them make me LOL. I'm sure they've been around forever, but I'm finding them quite fun and very spot on. Bringing some new life to this blog!

Tomorrow is a holiday!

Ohhh snap! 3 DAY WEEKEND!

"Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."
~Steve Jobs
I so wish I was here right now...looks so relaxing

Teleport me now!

Yep

She must have been wearing the same wedges I was wearing yesterday...
